M&M Marketplace Partners with Hillsboro Parks & Rec to Create New Soccer Turf, Igniting Community Spirit

In a remarkable display of community support, M&M Marketplace and Hillsboro Parks & Recreation have forged a partnership that has breathed new life into M&M Marketplace’s Hillsboro Futsal and revitalized the cherished Messi field. Overcoming the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, both organizations have demonstrated their unwavering commitment to fostering athletic opportunities and enhancing the local Hillsboro community.
During the pandemic, Hillsboro Futsal, an integral part of M&M Marketplace, faced an unpromising future as operations were forced to stop. Recognizing the dire situation, Dave Miletich, the Director of Hillsboro Parks & Rec., is deeply invested in the principles championed by M&M Marketplace.
Miletich sought to ensure the survival of the field. Jamie Miranda, the owner of M&M Marketplace and Hillsboro Futsal, had expressed a struggle to keep Hillsboro Futsal up and running, insinuating that measures to keep the Messi field afloat were not working.
In an extraordinary gesture of support, the City of Hillsboro. extended a grant of $60,000, and M&M Marketplace stepped forward to cover the remaining expenses required to acquire the new soccer turf. This partnership proved to be a lifeline for Hillsboro Futsal, with Miranda stating, “The partnership was a lifesaver for Hillsboro Futsal.” The highly anticipated inauguration of the Messi turf took place on Friday, June 23rd, coinciding with the Summer Social celebration. The event was a resounding success, attended by Hillsboro’s very own – Mayor Steve Callaway, who showed his support to commemorate the occasion.
The Summer Social offered an array of activities for children, ranging from thrilling field games to engaging arts and crafts. M&M Marketplace vendors delighted attendees with their delectable tapas, providing a preview of the culinary delights available daily at the marketplace. Additionally, participants were treated to a sneak peek of the chalk walk – La Strada dei Pastelli Chalk Art Festival – an event that promises to captivate the community’s imagination.
Empowering the younger generation to unleash their creativity, kids were encouraged to express their artistic vision by crafting artwork depicting the businesses they dream of opening. This interactive activity nurtured their inventive spirits while fostering a sense of entrepreneurship.
Through the M&M Marketplace and Hillsboro Parks & Recreation partnership, the Hillsboro community can witness the remarkable power of collaboration.
