Art & Culture Was the Highlight at the El Sol Festival in Hillsboro

HILLSBORO, Or. — The first event of its kind in Washington County, the First Annual El Sol Festival featured dynamic dance and music acts from all over the world as well as artisanal shops and multicultural food and fun in a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. From June 25 – August 13th every Saturday from 12 to 2 p.m., people of all ages and backgrounds eagerly flocked to M&M Marketplace for an immersive dive into rich cultures, with local artisans from different walks of life showcasing their cuisines, performative and visual arts, music, and more.

 

Spearheaded by M&M Marketplace along with the City of Hillsboro – Parks and Rec, El Sol festival promotes cultural exchange and provides a fun, safe, and all-embracing experience for all. The vision is to create a special place where people of different ages and backgrounds could get together to celebrate the beauty they come from.

From folk dancers to dragon and lion dancers, the El Sol Festival wasn’t one to miss. Different genres of music blasted through the speakers while attendees browsed, shopped the different vendors, and noshed on ethnic fare.

 

El Sol, meaning “the sun shines for everyone,” serves as a further testament to M&M Marketplace’ commitment to showcasing eclectic cultures from around the world. Conveniently located in Hillsboro’s Latino business district, the talented team at M&M Marketplace put on an event that is sure to see a steadily rising turnout of locals and even those visiting Hillsboro in the upcoming years.
