M&M Marketplace Mural Ceremony: A Celebration of Unity

On October 8th, 2023, the community gathered at M&M Marketplace for a special event to unveil the mural titled “Together We Have a Bright Future,” crafted by the talented artist Li Tie.
The event was a joyful celebration of unity, culture, food, and the influence of art. As attendees gathered around the mural, they enjoyed the soul-soothing music of Gerardo Calderón and savored snacks from the M&M vendors. What made the event truly special was the profound message underlying this artistic masterpiece.
The concept for the artwork, inspired by Wane Chin, revolved around the idea that food acts as a universal language, bringing people of different backgrounds and cultures together. It symbolizes our shared humanity, emphasizing that we are all connected when we share a meal despite our differences.
The vibrant colors on the mural, created with the help of Rachel ZhouZichenguang, represent Hillsboro’s colors and shared vision for a bright and harmonious future. It highlights the strength that comes from embracing diversity and celebrating everyday experiences.
